Dear Parents and Student,
Hello and welcome to your child’s new fifth grade class. You are in Mrs. Roberts’ class for the 2017-2018 school year. I will be your teacher for reading, math, writing, and word work. The purpose of this letter is to introduce myself and let you know of some supplies that may be helpful for you to have in school.
I am starting my 27th year teaching in Fowlerville. I taught 6th grade for eight years, and I have been with my favorite fifth grade for eighteen years:) I currently reside in Hamburg with my husband, youngest daughter, my mother, the cutest puppies ever named Casey and Shadow, and too many cats. . . I have three children. My son, John, is a MSU graduate in Engineering. John got married last summer. My daughter, Becky, graduated from EMU and is a 3rd grade teacher this year and she got married this summer.. My daughter, Nancy, will be beginning her first year of college at Cleary. My hobbies include reading, boating, snowmobiling, and spending time with family and friends!
Our building theme for the 2017-2018 school year is Learning is a STATE of mind. Fifth grade has the Pacific and Mountain Time Zones. Our classroom theme is Nevada. This year you will also explore many new concepts in math such as fractions, measurement, geometry, decimals, and many more in our new math series Bridges. You will practice new writing techniques and will write your very own novel this November. Reading class will be co-taught with Dr. Lawson on Tuesday and Thursday. This year, you may also have chances to learn from our awesome team including Ms. Nystrom, Mrs. Volz, and Mr. Collins.
I look forward to getting to know you and your parents as the year progresses.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Roberts
